District B13

I just went and saw this movie this afternoon and it was super fast paced and fun. Basically it's a french film about guys running and kicking and shooting set to weird, almost inappropriate music, set in a gross looking future (2010 - would that still be considered the future?) and it involves drugs (interesting!!) and a crime boss who shoots his minions when they fail him (original!!) and a rogue cop ( a whaaa!!!) and a streetwise hero with zero tolerance for bad guys and facial expressions. It also heavily features ultra fast , seizure-inducing editing (one of my filmmaking pet peeves-thanks Ridley Scott)
It isn't the story that sells this bitch, it is the kick ass action and fights that make this movie so, so cool. The main guy is played by the dude who created this amazing new french activity called PARKOUR which is a lot like real life matrix moves with no wires and no special effects. Guys jumping from building to building and over moving cars and through impossibly tiny windows, etc.
It was awesome. I might go see it again. Probably with Gavin because he thinks he'd like to try this Parkour thing. It's playing at Paramount, but I don't know for how long, it wasn't very busy and as soon as it started some halfwits left the theater when they realized that it was subtitled.

It's way better than DaVinci and X-Men III so just go please.
