I'm in space right now.

Last week the Mars Lander, Phoenix, was launched into space. Among it's payload was a small disc, containing the names of many members of the Planetary Society. My name is on that disc, which I think is pretty effing cool. Jealous?

Mira

The only thing I love more than science fiction is real science. Science science. NASA just released some incredible images of the dying Red Dwarf Mira, as it hurtles throught the universe leaving a tail of debris in it's wake. The tail is impossibly long and thinking about it makes my brain ache in the most pleasurable way.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy-plosion

Ever since the recent success of sci-fi/fantasy movies like Harry Potter and Narnia and The Lord of the Rings, Hollywood has been scrambling trying to fill the screens with more, more, MORE! A lot of the times their attempts fail miserably (Eragon) but once in a while they nail it - STARDUST!!! Stardust was such a fun and wonderful movie that I was smiling through the entire thing. Plus there was a unicorn in it.

There are so many good ones coming down the pipe, especially His Dark Materials:The Golden Compass, the Spiderwick Chronicles, Nim's Island and The Water Horse all look promising. It reminds me of another great time in movie history, the eighties. Legend, The Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, etc. I dare say..classics.
