Supergood

Hollywood's recent propensity to re-create the spirit of the classic 80's movie goes beyond that of the fantasy realm. With releases like Superbad, the latest from producer Judd Apatow and company, all the consummate devices one would ever expect from the genre are used in spades. But here, it never feels cliche.
Superbad is hilarious, raunchy and gloriously awkward. Pitch perfect performances, especially from Michael Cera (George Michael Bluth from Arrested Development)really make this movie. These nerds are the best kind. They make tons of pop culture references, they have a complex geek hierarchy within their own circle, and of course, they are suave sex experts/blundering virgin idiots.
The movie's humor is filthy at times, but generally sophisticated and always consistent. I laughed a lot. I recommend seeing it on a busy night, because the audience reaction is integral to the experience.
